It is an advantage if you have sales and marketing experience, although not absolutely essential. Certainly an understanding of the basic principles of running a small/medium size business would also assist.

However, the key characteristics we are looking for in our Licensees are an open mind, a willingness to learn, an entrepreneurial spirit and the right attitude. Plus, a healthy dose of self-motivation won't go astray either!

Be prepared to show us how much passion you have for helping others, and show us too, the amount of drive you have to succeed in this business.

Certainly, the products, training and support are designed to take you to a level of competency within a short period of time, but only if you have a willingness to learn.

What personal attributes should I possess?

The essential qualities are credibility, professional personal presentation, good command of the English language, confidence in selling yourself and mingling and meeting with other like minded people.

If you have these qualities, our intensive training can quickly assist you to develop the other skills that may be necessary to be successful in this business.

What will I be doing and selling as an RIBI Licensee?

Your role as a RIBI Licensee is to help the owners of small/medium sized businesses with their sales, marketing and management, by providing them with products and services.

Essentially you'll be any or all of the following: product supplier, sounding board, confidant, mentor, coach and consultant.

But you don't have to be a marketing guru to succeed …Many of our business improvement programs, tools and strategies have been designed and tested over 20 years to get results in a way that's both effective for the client and highly profitable for you.

As part of your arsenal of products and services, you'll deliver everything from high quality “how to” business manuals, newsletters, DVD and  state of the art, interactive, online sales coaching and business management programs, coaching, mentoring and seminars, should you choose to develop your business in that direction.

Why should I be a RIBI Licensee?

By becoming a Licensee you tap into the resources and support of some of the world's finest sales, marketing and business minds. When you master and apply the skills that you learn by working with our support team, the Licensee network and your business-owner clients, you have the opportunity to create the life style and income you have always desired.

This is an opportunity that may provide you with a solid platform for entrepreneurial freedom – and one that's based on years of experience, proven products and training. It may give you the opportunity to own a profitable and fulfilling business, without having to recreate the wheel by developing new products. If you genuinely seek the freedom of independence and are prepared to work hard and learn skills to maximise your personal efforts, you should consider becoming an RIBI Licensee.

If you're going to invest in your own business, you'd better make sure it has every chance of success … right? Why else would you want to go it alone, taking all the risks and facing an uncertain future?

Smart people choose to go with the winners. Even smarter people choose products and services that not only give them every chance of surviving the first few years in business, but ones that maximise their chances of succeeding through proven products and support.

What kind of training do I receive?

If you require training about our products and recommended methods for the promotion of our business improvement tools & programs and/or invaluable insights into how best to get your consulting and/or coaching business off to a productive and profitable start, we can assist you.

We have a one day 'Fast Start' training followed up by an 8 day sales, marketing, coaching and consultancy Boot Camp and offer ongoing training and support if you require our assistance.

The training is informative and detailed as our CEO, Ross Hancock, is personally involved every step of the way. In Ross, you have a sales and marketing guru who has over 30 years successful experience as a well respected and in demand business consultant.

Further, Bootcamp attendees are always "blown away" with the amazing commercial value of the intellectual property imparted during the training.

On top of all this, when you have a few runs on the board, there is even an further 'Advanced Bootcamp' for those who want to take their skills to even greater heights.

What level of on-going training do I get?
Unlike a lot of other Licensee training programmes, your initial 8 day training program is only the beginning of your journey. You see, you'll be stepping onto a continual learning curve, with reading, seminars, workshops, conferences and internet-based chat groups and forums which are all part of the process. It's stimulating, and it works.

So, how do I make money as a Licensee?
See our page called “How Much Money Will I Be Making”.

How will I get leads and sales?
When you attend our initial "Fast Start" and 8 day sales and marketing training camp, we recommend many techniques and tools for lead generation.

Who will be my target clients?

Your clients will be the owners or managers of small/medium size businesses. Depending on the way you choose to market yourself, which is entirely up to you, there may be a specific industry or certain field you wish to work in. It's hard to think of a business that would not benefit in some way from RIBI's business improvement programs, tools and strategies.

Typically however, our products and services are designed for businesses with annual revenues in excess of $150,000 (most average around $400,000) and employing between 1 and 50 people.

Most of these business owners are owner/operators who are looking to introduce products that can systemise their business and can generate more growth or profit, provide them with more time, or produce better productivity from their team members.

We have found that most start-up businesses either do not have the funds to afford our products and services, or are still in the development and establishment phase of their business cycle. They do not normally fit the “ideal” business profile.

Notwithstanding that, we do produce an excellent and comparatively inexpensive newsletter that caters adequately to their needs, which may assist you, as a Licensee, to secure a client in the very early stages of your business and so, as the business grows, so does the owner's relationship with you.

Similarly, some big businesses will have their own in-house marketing departments, working in conjunction with outside advertising and public relations houses, and therefore may not see a need for our products and services. These businesses can also be the ones that gain most from independent outside resources, such as products and services delivered by an RIBI Licensee, as often the in-house people are staff-educated into the way of thinking and culture of the business, and therefore unable to be objective in their outlook.

Can I really get results with all types of clients?

Absolutely, provided you are dealing with a business person who is keen to improve!

You see…the key to change in any business is the attitude of its owner.

Plus, the owner is the expert in the business, so by leveraging their knowledge and RIBI's products, you can make almost any business fly.

Add to this the fact that within the RIBI group, at least one of your fellow Licensees will have either worked with, worked in or even owned a business that's the same or very similar to that of your client and you may be able to tap into their knowledge.

What are the keys to my success as a Licensee?

A successful RIBI Licensee is results driven and motivated .

Successful Licensees have an eagerness to learn and a desire to help others, a willingness to work long hours to get the momentum going, good people and relationship building skills, sales ability or a willingness to learn and apply sales systems, solid self-discipline and family support, an ability to take direction when needed and to read when necessary, having money in reserve and being willing to invest it, a willingness to take risks and to ask for help, and being well organised and a good planner.

The common reasons for failure include, not working hard enough or not doing enough marketing, going ahead despite family opposition, spending money on the good things in life before earning it, not enjoying selling to other business people, not having the self-discipline to cope with the responsibility of owning a small business, and being under-funded or misleading as to the amount of funds available.

Will this business work in my area?

The funny thing about business is that it doesn't matter whether you sell paper-clips or aeroplanes, one thing you can almost count on is that pretty much every business owner you talk to (wherever they live) will want more customers, more revenues and more profit … the three things that they can't change – well not directly, anyway.

While every enterprise has a unique set of challenges, they all rely on customers, revenues and profits. And that's where our products and services will be in hot demand. Our products are designed to assist most small/medium businesses, so no matter where you are, you should be able to find prospective clients.

How many hours will I work? Should I employ someone?

Like all new entrepreneurial ventures, the first 12 months will be the hardest, not necessarily because of the amount of work you'll do, but because the work may be different to what you have done before.

The learning curve that our Licensees experience is often steep.

As a new Licensee, you have the opportunity to learn from many sources, be it other Licensees, books, seminars or from personal experiences … you'll find yourself wanting to learn more about everything – which means you may be VERY busy.

If you are new to the coaching, consulting & information products industry, you may be trying out all our different sales and marketing strategies, trying to find the strategies that will work for you in your business.

There may come a time, depending upon how many hours you wish to work in your business and the number of clients you have secured, that you consider hiring a personal assistant or you recruit a sub-licensee so that you can leverage your time more effectively. Then, you will start to choose the hours of work that suit you, your clients & prospects. This differs in every business.

Can I work at home?

Of course you can. However, whether you choose to operate out of an office or at home is entirely your choice.

If you work from home, we recommend that you have a separate space designated for your business. You need to be able to lock yourself away, and then lock up and switch off at night.

When your business has grown, you may wish to take advantage of serviced offices or your own office suite.

Because most of your client interaction will be done at your client's places or over the phone by fax or email, there is no need to have a formal office

This leaves you more time to work on your business and to earn more income without eating into your family or leisure time.

Do I have a territory?

No. RIBI does not operate by territories, nor do we restrict any of our Licensees by any other geographical means. Licensees are free to operate worldwide and with any type of business they choose.

What are the on-going fees and royalties?
RIBI is not a franchise, members of our successful network are Licensed to use and sell our extensive range of world class business improvement systems, tools & programs. We do not collect any royalties from our Licensees.

However, in addition to your initial investment in your RIBI License there is a monthly support levy  which is a contribition to covering the overheads associated with provision of support to the RIBI network.  Ask your Business Development Manager for details.

What is the term of the contract?
RIBI Licenses are valid for an initial term of 5 years and are renewable for further periods of 5 years on payment of a nominal fee of $1000 plus applicable taxes before the expiration of each 5 year term.

Does RIBI offer any guarantees?
RIBI believe in their products and services. We do offer two industry leading guarantees. Please check with your Business Development Manager as to the exact details of our training and money back guarantees.

Can I sell or transfer my Licensing agreement?
Yes, your Licensing & Distribution agreement can be transferred at any time with RIBI's consent and this will not be unreasonably withheld.

Can I sub license my right to distribute the RIBI products and services?

Executive Licensees are permitted by their agreement to licence a sub-licensee. Sub-licensees are the responsibility of the Executive Licensee and as such, have no direct relationship with RIBI .

Executive Licensees are able to send sub-licensees to RIBI training programs, for a fee, and can enrol sub-licensees for further training such as conference calls.

Sub-licensees must place all product orders through their Executive Licensee. This allows Executive Licensees to make some margin on product purchases and therefore gain leverage. Sub-licensing is an excellent way for Executive Licensees to secure residual income through on-going product sales.

How much working capital will I need to run my business?

The amount you require varies considerably. Other than your basic office equipment, i.e. computer, printer, telephone, fax machine, etc and some printing costs for letterhead and promotional materials, you may have few other costs.

Of course if you decide to work from an office and hire staff or associates to assist you rather than work from home, you will have the associated expenses.

You should also have at least 8-12 weeks living expenses set aside, plus whatever it takes to acquire your business equipment and a nominal amount for marketing your services, depending on how much marketing you choose to do.

What are my chances of succeeding in this business?

“Success is a personal thing”- everyone has their own definition of what it means to them. RIBI gives you the opportunity to have time, money and freedom – all are important!!

All the money in the world will do you little good if you don't have the time to spend it and likewise, you can have the abundance of available time, but if you are broke then the time is of little value.

Your chances of success will depend entirely on your level of motivation and your own personal desire to succeed. We cannot pick you up and carry you.

How long will it take to begin marketing activities and/or consulting from the time I sign the distribution agreement?
Depending on the amount of preparation you have done you will be in a position to start immediately should you choose. Talk to your Business Development Manager about the type of preparation you can do.
